The Lady Kindly’s captain, Soljus Tizo, is a man of middle age but wears every year on his face. His tattered long coat a mottled grey, a large tricorn cap pinned with a gear broach on the left side. Beneath his coats, vest and shirt a worn and faded tattoo of a lady pokes out from his collar and twists around the right side of his neck, as if she is sitting on his shoulder. At his belt, a brass hilted cutlass hangs loosely, shined to a mirror finish. Opposite that a short barreled blunderbuss, strapped tightly in a loop holster. He stands tall, towering and commanding. His face is leathered and scarred, but most of it is hidden beneath a salt and pepper beard, and his hair is kempt and tied back into a braided thick tail, revealing runed tattoos on the side of his head where it is shaved.
Five Toes (a name given to him by the crew, coined by his boatswain Quillis), walks with a heavy step, his entire right leg replaced by a brass mechanical contraption that resounds with a thundering boom every step he takes. Older crewman attest that it is the reason he shows so much loyalty to Thali Bumwhistle and the rest of the Faldihrai.
As long as any crewman aboard the Lady Kindly knows, Five Toes has always been her captain, but his past is more of a fairy tale to them. Tales of his exploits at sea, far before he ever commanded the air with his state of the art airship, echo in whispers amongst the crew, but the truths in those tales are hidden beneath hyperbole and embellishment. The only known fact is that he hails from Hedrig’s Point, where the Lady Kindly makes berth.
